Yes, the good Lord has opened a door for us to move into St Ignatius parish on Donald Street, with the blessing of the bishop and the pastor, Fr Michael Wright.

We will have our first Sunday Mass at St Ignatius on SUNDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER at 11.30 am !!

By way of transition, we will be having Mass this coming Sunday, 19th September, at Ray and Lorraine’s place in Chelsea. The Mass will begin at 10 amto allow time for everyone to ask questions about the move and all its aspects. Everyone is asked to bring along their own lunch. Ray and Lorraine will provide desserts and drinks.

BY 12.30 pm, those who are taking part in the Célébrez! Vanier, Celebrate!event in Richelieu Park, which will run from 2pm – 4pm, will have to leave to help with the set up. I would really appreciate members of the Lift Jesus Higher community volunteering for this, and for clean up, as well as just coming along to enjoy the event, which will be an important moment in the changing of the spiritual climate over Vanier which we have been praying and interceding for over many years.

If anyone needs a ride to Ray and Lorraine’s place, please come to the back of City Church on Ethel Street no later than 9 am.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday, and please pray, pray, pray for good weather for the Vanier Celebration event!!

Many blessings,

Fr Bob

22nd September 2010

September 22, 2010

This is a "black-letter" day for us at Lift Jesus Higher. It marks the date when we will be able to celebrate a Sunday morning Mass for the first time in church since the year 2000.

Through the kindness of the parish community of St Ignatius, and their pastor, Fr Michael Wright, and our own bishop’s efforts on our behalf, henceforth our Mass each Sunday will be at 11.30 am.

This is a big improvement on our usual time over the last ten years, which was 2pm. We have found that having to celebrate an afternoon Mass, has been a big deterrent to many people, especially those with young families, for whom the Sunday is often a precious family day. Now we hope to be able to attract these people back to Lift Jesus Higher, and even in the future to hold potlucks afterwards, as we used to be able to do in our early days in Vanier, when Mass was at 10 am .

The other main pillar of our life together, the Thursday evening prayer meeting , will continue to be held at 7:30pm in our new location.

I have a real excitement about this move, because God has been unfolding the way for us so smoothly, that I cannot doubt this is His will for us . We have long treasured the prophetic word we received early life together, that we had to regard ourselves as spiritual "nomads", always ready to pack up our tents and prepare to move on to fresh pastures, following the Lord who , as he did for the Israelites on their journey to the Promised Land, goes before us as a "pillar of cloud" by day, and a "pillar of fire" at night.

Please continue to keep us in prayer as we make this new transition that everything will go smoothly and we may prove to be a blessing to our new "neighbours" at St Ignatius.

And keep watching this space …!

Fr Bob
"Thus says the Lord :"No need to consider the things of the past.
See, I am doing a new thing; even now it springs up before you,
Can you not perceive it ?"

(Isaiah 43:18)
